TYNEMOUTH swimmers headed north across the border to represent the club in the Scottish National Age Group Championship - and didn't come home empty-handed.

The prestigious event at Tollcross International Swim Centre in Glasgow saw six Tynemouth swimmers record some superb PBs and win medals, including Lucy Hedley and Ella Took in the 15 and over age group.

Lucy won a silver in the 400free and two bronzes, in the 200free and 1500free, also recording a fourth-place finish in the 800free and came fifth in the 100free. Ella won silver in the 1500free and bronze in the 400free, plus fifth-placed finishes in both the 800free and 200free, and sixth in the 200fly.

Amy Heron also recorded some fine PBs in the 15 and over category on her way to finishing 12th in both the 50free and 50back, and 13th in the 200back.

Arianna Stokes was also among the medals in the 11-13 age group, securing a bronze in the 50free, fourth in the 1500free and fifth in the 400free, while in the same age group, Eva Clapperton secured top-10 finishes in the 200free and 400free.

Last and by no means least was Katie Coventry, also in the 11-13 age group, who despite qualifying 31st fastest for the 200breast event, secured a place in the final where from an outside lane, she won a superb silver medal. Another final and top-10 finish arrived in the 100breast, and she secured a third PB of the championships in the 50breast.
