About Tynemouth Amateur Swimming Club

Tynemouth ASC is a competitive swimming club, based in North Tyneside. We provide a safe, fun and friendly environment, coupled with expert teaching and coaching, which enables each swimmer to realise their full potential.  On offer is a structured learning/training programme from the very earliest stage through to National and International level.

LEARN TO SWIM
Our Learn to Swim programme is overseen by our Head of Development, Michele Davison. Michele has been a huge part of the swimming community for many years, as a successful coach but also as a mum of swimmers herself. She works closely with the Learn to Swim team to nurture their own development as teachers, whilst continually responding to the ever changing needs of swimmers throughout the club.

Our Learn to Swim teachers are Harriet and Alfie however you will often see them being supported by some of our experienced swimmers who are developing their own teaching skills.

The Learn to Swim team focus on teaching the children the correct technique whilst ensuring they have fun. Development of physical fitness, listening skills, social skills and a respect for water safety features heavily in the programmes. In due course, it is expected that members achieving the necessary standards will move onto competing at galas and swim for the Club teams in appropriate events when they are ready. TASC also hosts regular internal time trials and an annual Club Championships gala which are often opened up to swimmers in Learn to Swim.

COMPETITIVE SWIMMING

We are a competitive swimming club with the aim of developing swimmers who routinely take part in competitive swimming. Our performance and competitive squads are overseen by our Head Coach, Dave Cuthbert. Dave is an experienced head coach with an excellent track record of producing successful medal winners, he’s already proving to be a big hit with our swimmers!

Our coaching team are Emily, Mollie, Michele, Rachel, Martin and Paul but as with learn to swim you will often see additional people helping poolside, more often than not this will be parents who are taking a real interest in understanding more and supporting the development of our swimmers. Coaches set out clear expectations of their swimmers which include attendance at training as well as a commitment to attending galas. The coaches work collectively to ensure swimmers are supported appropriately on their competitive pathway in order to achieve great successes!

Our Masters swimmers are trained by Derek.
