TYNEMOUTH swimmers proved they had the X Factor when it came to competing during lockdown, with the club celebrating some impressive results in season 2 of the national Level X rankings.

Clubs across the country took part in this year's edition of Level X racing, with swimmers racing against the clock as part of internal galas and time trials while the usual racing calendar continued to be suspended due to the pandemic.

And with the national leaderboards now published based on the times recorded during those Level X races across the UK, Tynemouth have no less than 11 swimmers featured in the top 10 in their respective age groups - with five of those making it into the medal places.

Niamh Savory (13) was top of the pile in the 50 backstroke, finished in silver medal spot for 200 breaststroke and in bronze position for 100 breast, 100 back, 200 back and 400 IM. She also took fourth spot in both the 800 freestyle and 100 butterfly, came fifth in the 200 IM and finished ninth in the 50 breast.
