Masters Short Course Dutch Nationals 2019
27 Jan 2019
Dutch Swimmer Glen Le Clercq trains with TASC Masters on a Monday evening. Working in North Tyneside through the week, Glen also joins many of our masters swimmers on other evenings when they run their own sessions.
Glen, who competes for Dutch club ZCP De Rog, suggested some Tynemouth swimmers could join him at the Short Course Dutch Nationals in January 2019. Jim Carr took the opportunity.
The Championships were held in Zwolle, 2 hrs North West of Weert, 'De Rogs' home town. Jim was made to feel very welcome, staying in Glen's house the night before and then travelling by car to Zwolle with some other members of the team the next day.

They both produced some fantastic results, Jim scoring 2 silver medals, 5 top 5s from 5 races and 3 personal bests. Glen achieved 2 Golds, 1 Silver and a Bronze from 4 individual races, alongside numerous wins in Team 'De Rog relays.
Jim's swim of the weekend was achieving a best time by 0.45 in the 100 Free, 56.53. Glen, going for a National record in the same event in the 50-54 age missed out by his finger tips but still smashed out an impressive 56.80. Possibly his most impressive swim was the 200 the next day, swimming a negative split of 64/62 for 2:06.70.
