A snap shot of the last couple of weeks of some 30 year old plus athletes still on top of their game.   Tynemouth boast a ‘relative’ similar standard of athlete in the Masters ranks!

Over the summer many of the Masters took to the open water and achieved some fantastic goals and targets across a wide range of events.  Congrats to one and all.

Many of the team continued to work hard through the summer with help from a leading North East coach Ken Nesworthy and local pool hire.  The target was firmly set on Short Course Masters National Championship.  The main event of the year for Masters swimmers in the pool.

First of all a quick mention to the level of competition now at Masters. In recent years the level has rocketed up and Masters times are dropping and progressing quicker than any other age group in swimming.    In the 35-39 the 50 Freestyle was won in 22.82  and in the 40-44 100 free the winning time was 53.89.  Astonishing.

Four of the team made the trip to Swim England’s ‘mothership’ Ponds Forge: Damien Hall, Graeme Liston, Jim Carr and Richard Dann.

Big congratulations to Richard Dann.  A Masterful performance, just as he has trained hard for in the 400m Freestyle. Bringing home a Bronze medal which is superb at this level.  Richard and Damo also breaking club records in their age category.

Below is quick round up of the rest of the teams results and a selection of each of their swims.

Jim Carr 24.91 50 Free

Damien Hall 200 Breastroke 2:45.93

Graeme Liston 50 Fly 33.78
