Middlesbrough June Meet

TYNEMOUTH swimmers headed south for the Middlesbrough June Meet at the Neptune Centre, and returned with a hatful of medals, a number of superb pbs and some new club records to boot.
There were no less than 38 golds taken by Tynemouth swimmers, five alone going to Erin Jones with more for her fellow nine-year-olds Emily Jackson (two plus a silver and bronze), Oscar Makepeace (two, setting new club records in the 100IM and 50 breast) Joey Lau (two golds) and Heidi Carr (one gold plus two silvers and a bronze). Mitchell McDermott (aged nine) took a silver and a bronze.
The 10-year-olds were also among the medals, Jasper Hall taking three golds and bronze, the latter with a huge pb, while Ona Gallagher scooped two more golds, Owen Brown took a gold, three silvers and a bronze, and Ruby Dann a gold and a bronze. Jai Diddee won two bronzes, while Grace Ferguson and Jennifer Henderson both took a bronze apiece and Isaac Stokes managed a great pb in the 200 free.
There was another club record broken by Niamh Savory in the 400 free on her way to her two golds, while Jamie Beach took two golds and four bronzes, Katie Coventry one gold, two silvers and a bronze, and Anna Carr a gold, silver and bronze. Isobel Munnoch took a bronze.
The 12 year age group saw another club record broken, Arianna Stokes, who won four golds, setting a new time in the 200 fly. Jack Kelso also won gold while Matt Stewart took a bronze and Katie Adams managed a huge pb in the 400 free.
As for the 13-year-olds, Lauren Heppell took two golds, two silvers and two bronzes, Emily Hedley a gold, silver and a bronze, Maddie Wilson two silvers, Eva Clapperton a silver and George Watson a bronze. Bethany Heron also recorded a superb pb in the 400 IM.
Lucy Hedley, aged 14, secured two golds and a silver, Katie Stobbs a gold and a bronze, Neave Abbey a silver and two bronzes, and James Hayes a bronze, while 15-year-old Ella Took won a gold and two silvers, Amy Heron one gold and Luke Baker a bronze.
