TYNEMOUTH ASC can proudly boast FIVE regional champions following the North East Region Short Course Championships at Ponds Forge in Sheffield, where they were represented by 25 swimmers who between them won 22 medals, broke several club records and set a host of new PBs.
In the Age Group Championships, Aidan Turner (12) won a hat-trick of gold medals with success in the 200m free (setting a new club record in the process), 400m free and 1500m free.
Niamh Savory (13) secured no less than EIGHT medals and broke SIX club records to boot, winning gold in the 100m back (with a club record), plus silver medals in the 100m breaststroke (club record), 200m breast (club record), 50m back, 200m back, 100IM (club record), 200IM (club record) and 400IM. She also broke the club record in the 50m butterfly.
Freya Beach (11) was another among the medals, winning gold in the 50m fly, silver in the 200m back and bronze medals in both the 50m back and 200m fly.
Older brother Jamie Beach (13) became a regional champion as well by winning the 200m fly, plus took silver in the 100m fly and bronze in the 50m fly.
And Jack Kelso (14) also won a full set of gold, silver and bronze with victory in the 200m breast (in another club record time), finishing second in the 400IM and securing a third-place finish in the 100IM.
Elsewhere, Hannah Gray (11) won bronze in the 200m back, while the club was also represented in the Age Group Championships by Nathan Huggan (11), Annabel Cowens (11), Sophie Robson (11), Daniel Payton (12), Katy Otterson (12), Jai Diddee (13), Anna Carr (13), Molly-Rosanna Young (13), Ruby Dann (13) and George Turner (14).
In the Open Championships, Jack Ashurst (17) reached three finals, in the 100m and 200m fly, and 100IM, while there was another club record set with Katie Coventry (14) setting a new club best time in the 200m breast.
Also representing the club in the Open category were Ben Hartridge (15), Calum Robson (15), Arianna Stokes (15), Roman Viereckl (16), Katie Stobbs (16), James Hayes (17) and Amy Heron (17).
