There was a chance for younger Tynemouth swimmers to compete for medals and set new pbs in the Newcastle Swim Team Shrimp Gala at the Louisa Centre in Stanley, with some managing both.

Abby Coventry (aged 8) took home no less than six medals, four of them gold after winning the 50m fly (in a new club record time of 45.44), 50m free and 50m breast, and the 100m IM. She also won a silver in the 50m back and bronze in the 100m free.

Harry Willis (8) secured two medals, a silver in the 50m free and a bronze in the 100m free, while Freya Beach (9) won bronze in the 50m back and Annabelle Cowens (9) came sixth in the 50m breast.

The other nine-year-olds representing the club were Libby Dugdale, Scarlett French, Hannah Gray, Madeleine Greener-Dare, Mia Pritchard and Sophie Robson, plus Millie Clennell (10) and Ethan Carr (11)
