TYNEMOUTH ASC swimmers felt right at home competing in the Newcastle Swim Team County Qualifier – it was held at Tynemouth Pool! And they made home advantage count with some superb swims, some new N&D qualifying times and a whole host of medals to boot.

In the nine years age group, Anja Schrocksnadel romped to gold in the 50m backstroke, Isobel Johnson took two silvers in the 50m and 100m breaststroke, Samuel Brown won silver in the 50m breast and Hannah Fraser secured bronze in the 100m breast.

Abby Coventry led the way for the 10-year-olds with a golden hat-trick, taking top spot in the 50m butterfly, plus 50m and 200m breast. Hari Diddee also won three medals, silver in the 200m breast and two bronzes in the 50m and 100m breast, Thomas Northey took two bronzes in the 50m back and 50m fly, while Francesca Moir won bronze in the 50m fly.

The 11 years age group saw Freya Beach secure three golds – in the 50m and 200m back, and the 200IM – plus win silver in the 100m freestyle, while Hannah Gray won gold in both the 50m fly and 200m free, and a bronze in the 200m back. Nathan Huggan meanwhile won silver in the 50m breast.

Daniel Payton took no less than four golds in the 12 years age group with victories in the 50m fly, 50m and 100m free, and 100m back, Aidan Turner won two golds in the 200m breast and 400IM, and Katy Otterson took gold in the 100m free. Elsewhere, Jinghan Zeng took two silvers in the 50m fly and 200m back, plus two bronze medals in the 50m and 100m back; Anna Johnson took double bronze in the 50m and 200m breast, and Olivia Northey won bronze in the 40m free.

Among the 13-year-olds, Beth Richardson landed a superb seven medals, with golds in the 50m and 100m breast, and the 100m fly, plus silvers in the 50m free, 50m back, 200m breast and 400IM; Toby Ross also won three golds – in the 50m and 100m free, and 50m back – plus silver in the 100m back and bronze in the 200m free. Jai Diddee won gold in the 400m free, three silvers in the 50m back, 100m breast and 200m free, plus two bronzes in the 100m and 200m back, Ethan Rutter secured a gold in the 200m breast and three bronze medals in the 50m and 400m free, and 100m breast, Ruby Dann claimed gold in the 100m free, while Kajetan Guzikiewicz won three silvers in the 50m free, 50m breast and 200IM, Molly-Rosanna Young won silver in the 200m free and bronze in the 400mIM, and Olivia Willis secured two bronzes in the 50m fly and 100m back.

Finally in the 14 years and over age category, Matthew Chandler (15) struck gold twice in the 50m and 100m breast, brother Joseph Chandler (15) won gold in the 200m breast, Myles Harding (16) secured silver in the 50m free plus two bronzes in the 50m back and 100m free, Katie Coventry (14) won silver in the 200IM and bronze in the 50m fly, Calum Robson won silver in the 200m back and bronze in the 50m free, while there were silver linings for Charlie Pettitt (16, 50m breast), Roman Viereckl (16, 50m back), Jack Ashurst (17, 200IM) and Sofia Krasuska (17, 50m back). Elsewhere, Isobel Munnoch won two bronzes in the 100m and 400m free, while Matt Stewart won a bronze in the 100m breast.
