TYNEMOUTH ASC swimmers recently travelled to Sunderland Aquatic Centre for the Newcastle Swim Team’s Shrimp Gala – and several of them returned home with medals to show for their efforts, while many more gained some new PBs.

Gabriel Rennison-Rae managed not one but three bronze medals in the eight years age group, securing third-place finishes in the 50m butterfly, 50m freestyle and 100m IM, while Olivia Dann bagged herself a bronze medal in the 50m fly in the nine years age category.

Among the 10-year-olds, Abby Coventry had a scintillating Shrimp Gala with no less than six gold medals, in the 50m breaststroke, 50m fly, 50m backstroke, 50m free, 200m free and 200m IM, while Hannah Gray secured silver in both the 50m breast and 200m free, plus bronze in the 50m fly, and Hari Diddee took bronze in the 200m IM.

Freya Beach bagged a couple of golds in the 11 years age group, taking top spot in both the 50m fly and 50m back.

And finally in the 12 years age group, Ruby Dann took home three gold medals for her excellent efforts in the 200m free, 50m back and 50m fly, Olivia Willis managed a great gold in the 50m back, silver in both the 50m fly and 50m free, as well as a bronze in the 200m free, Annie Harrison secured silvers in the 50m breast, 50m back and 200m IM, and Ethan Rutter took a silver medal in the 200m IM and a bronze in the 200m freestyle.

Well done to all the swimmers who took part, and many thanks to the coaches and volunteers for their efforts on the day.
