TYNEMOUTH ASC swimmers crossed the border and put on a capital show during the Scottish National Short Championships at the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh.

There were no less than 13 swimmers from the club, aged from 11 to 16, competing in the prestigious three-day event, with some impressive performances and three new club records set.

The 1500m free record for 15-year-olds was broken not once but twice, Ella Took smashing the previous record with 17.23.47 to finish in the top 10 places in the event, before club mate Lucy Hedley went even faster, setting a new time of 17.06.22 which saw her finish in a fantastic fourth place.

There was also a new 1500m free record set in the 16 years age group, Leonie Aldridge breaking her own previous record with a new time of 18.08.49.

Lucy and Ella were also involved in a new open club record as part of the 200m free relay team alongside Amy Heron and Arianna Stokes, the foursome setting a new best time of exactly 1.50.00.

Also representing the club in Scotland were Niamh Savory (11), Lauren Heppell and Maddie Wilson (both 13), Kathryn Bell and Katie Stobbs (both 14), and 15-year-olds Neave Abbey, Jack Ashurst and James Hayes.
