TYNEMOUTH ASC swimmers were in record-breaking mood when they travelled to the Aquatic Centre for the Sunderland Summer Splash, and brought home a hatful of medals and long-course pbs to boot.

Not content with his four gold medals, Oscar Makepeace (9) broke four club records too, setting new times in the 50 free, 100 back, and both 50 and 100 breast. The first two broke new times set just moments earlier by Daniel Payton, who also broke the club record in the 200 free on his way to a gold and two silvers.

There was also a case of 'To me. to you' between Joey Lau and Emily Jackson (both 9) when it came to club records. Joey, who won two golds, three silvers and a bronze, broke club records in the 50 and 100 breast only to see Emily break them again on her way to winning two golds and a silver. Joey returned the favour by breaking Emily's new club record in the 200 breast.

Erin Jones (10) also set a new club record in the 200 breast on her way to winning a gold, silver and bronze, while Owen Brown (10) took home a gold, silver and two bronzes and Heidi Carr (10) a silver.

Niamh Savory (11) was also among the golds, taking three of them home and an impressive pb in the 200 free, and Jamie Beach (11) collected two golds and a bronze from his weekend's efforts.

Jack Kelso (12) secured a gold in the 200 breast with a slight pb, while Lauren Heppell (13) took a gold and a silver, and Eva Clapperton (13) won a bronze plus recorded a nice set of pbs.

Katie Stobbs (14) took home two golds and a silver with some solid pbs, Kathryn Bell (14) won a gold, two silvers and a bronze also with some nice pbs, Jack Ashurst (14) won two silvers and two bronzes, Neave Abbey two silvers while James Hayes (14) set a new club record in the 50 back on his way to a bronze.

Luke Baker (15) took gold in the 200 breast, Leonie Aldridge (16) won a silver in the 200 free and Nick Valentine (38) broke two Masters records, in the 200 IM and 100 fly, winning a bronze in the latter.

There was also success for Tynemouth in the relay events, with silvers in the 200 medley for both the 9-12 year boys and girls teams, plus the girls taking silver in the 200 free. The 13 and over girls also took silver in the 400 free, and bronze in the 400 medley.
