Volunteering is not just about being here to help run the club there are a number of ways we can support our swimmers. This includes providing help on poolside at galas and acting as a travel chaperone on TASC specific trips. With this in mind TASC will be running a Team Manager 1 course February 14th 2019 at The Parks in North Shields, running from 6pm - 9pm.

Team Manager training is designed to ensure any volunteers who are taking groups of athletes to competition or camps, locally or abroad, are fully equipped to do their role. There are no pre-requisites for the workshop, and it is recommended for anyone aged 16 or over, although it should be noted that an individual cannot take the role of a Team Manager fully until they turn 18. You can find out more about Team Manager Training here - https://www.swimming.org/swimengland/volunteer-training-development/

We welcome any TASC parents and volunteers who wish to help poolside at galas to attend this course - we have 20 places available for this particular one.

Module 1 is designed as an introduction to Team Managing at a club/local level. It is intended to be a basic and informative workshop to give participants the confidence and knowledge to effectively manage a team at a local level. The course is designed to achieve the following four outcomes:

  • To raise awareness of the key areas to consider in being a safe and effective Team Manager at local competitions
  • To identify likely problems and challenges
  • To understand the need for risk assessments
  • To be aware of where further help, guidance and support is available

We will be placing a form on the notice board at Tynemouth Pool but if anyone wishes to book a place or has any questions then please direct them to Phil Aldridge, John North or Tracey Booth. You can contact all through the contact us form on the website.
