TYNEMOUTH’S Winter Gala saw a host of medals won, plenty of great pbs and some new club records set.
There were a number of nine-year-olds competing, Samuel Lain taking home four gold medals for his weekend’s work, while Freya Beach won two golds of her own. There was a silver lining for Hannah Grey, two of them in fact plus two bronze medals, with Annabel Cowens also winning two silvers plus a bronze, and Madeline Greener-Dare one silver.
There were even more golds in the 10 years age group, no less than eight of them going to Erin Jones plus three silvers, while Owen Brown won six golds, a silver and a bronze, setting three new club records in the process, in the 50m fly, 200m fly and 200m back.
Fellow 10-year-olds Ona Gallagher won another six golds plus one silver. Isaac Stokes also took home a couple of gold medals and two bronzes, while Joey Lau won three silvers and two bronzes, Emily Jackson two silvers, Daniel Payton another silver and Lois Palmer a bronze.
The 11-year-olds were also among the medals, Anna Carr winning four of them plus a silver and bronze, Jasper Hall two golds, four silvers and a bronze, Jai Diddee a gold, silver and two bronzes, Sam Morton a gold and two bronzes while Hannah Gauld won one gold and Molly-Rosanna Young a bronze.
There was more success for the 12-year-olds with Max Hartis winning two golds, three silvers and a bronze, Katie Adams taking home two golds a silver and three bronzes, Thomas Connell one gold, a silver and three bronzes, Ava Perkins three silvers, Katie Coventry one silver and Isobel Munnoch a bronze medal.
In the 13 years age group, Lauren Heppell won two golds and two bronzes, George Watson a gold, silver and three bronzes, Arianna Stokes a gold and a bronze while Bethany Heron and Joseph Chandler both one gold apiece. Matt Stewart won two silvers and Eve Rudd a silver and a bronze.
As for the 14-year-olds, Kathryn Bell helped herself to six golds and three silvers, James Hayes won two golds, two silvers and a bronze, Katie Stobbs a gold and a silver and Myles Harding won a silver.
And last but not least, Oliver Breen (15) won a silver and four bronzes, Evie Hartridge (15) won a bronze, Luke Baker (16) a gold and Erin Purdy (17) a bronze.
